If a Bar Magnet is cut at the middle point (or at any other point or points) each part will be a magnet with the usual two poles north and south, and will be in the same directions as those of the original magnet.
Breaking a Bar Magnet |
It will be found that even smallest portion of a magnet behaves like a complete magnet.
In other words, neither a north pole or south pole can exist alone; or, for every north-pole there always exist an equal south-pole. No process of division can produce an isolated single pole.
Magnetic Monopole
It is impossible to make magnetic monopoles from a bar magnet. If a bar magnet is cut in half, it is not the case that one half has the north pole and the other half has the south pole. Instead, each piece has its own north and south poles. A magnetic monopole cannot be created from normal matter such as atoms and electrons, but would instead be a new elementary particle.
Magnetic Monopole is not possible |
