The following are the two fundamental laws which governs the behavior of electrostatic charges:
LAW I:
Similar or like charges of electricity repel each other whereas dissimilar or unlike charges attract each other.
LAW II:
The force exerted between two charges varies directly as the product of their strengths and inversely as the square of the distance between them.
It also depends upon the nature of the medium which lies between the two charges.
This law is also known as Coulomb's Law.
